The computer to screen There was essentially reinforced silk screen equipment in the printing house in Prague. The new CTS equipment (Computer to Screen) has been installed instead of one of two projection cameras.

It is a similar technology as more known and frequent offset technology CTP (Computer to Plate). This equipment makes pre-press process simpler and superior thanks to direct transmission of printing data without analogue intermediate stage using classical lithographic films. The CTS equipment brings effectiveness to production and its main impact shows itself in high quality printout. It makes possible using expressively higher graphics resolution.

System functioning: a special printing head lays wax on screen coated by photosensitive emulsion. This is the principle divergence compared to direct projection cameras working with lithographic films as masking method of the optical system which enlarges and transfers masked view to the screen. The optical system is limited and doesn’t obtain such screen quality as CTS.

Next to waxing the screen is exposition and developing by usual way, result is classical negative printing form for screenprinting. Printing resolution of the printing head for wax is 600 dpi, available printing definition is 40 l/cm. Equipment accuracy is tolerated by 0,02mm in maximum printing format. The CTS equipment is designed for needs of a large format printing house and is able to prepare screens in maximum printing format using in Eclipse, i.e. 2x4 m.

The CTS equipment marked as JetScreen has been supplied to Eclipse by Swiss company Luescher, the established manufacturer of pre-press equipments. This is the second equipment of such one in Impression group following installation of similar equipment in Newcastle, England.
